Seal of Aubert de Soisy. France, 13th-14th c. - Lot 63
Seal of Aubert de Soisy. France, 13th-14th c. Bronze, dark patina. 30 x 24 mm. Rounded shield matrix; tapered diametrical edge, with a pertuipated-up bulge at the top. Field: rounded shield: saltire with four crescents. Legend in orle, between two fine grènetis; in capitals: + S- o AVBERT o DE o SOISI o * Beautiful engraving. Provenance: o Charvet 1883, n° 764. o Maison Guillaumot, 1971 o Libert 2008, n° 67. Ref.: cast in the National Archives, cote ST7020. These two seals (Aubert de Soisy and Raoul de Mémont) in rounded shield, indisputably French, allow to definitively revoke the systematism of a Spanish origin of the seals of this form.
