Large PENDANT representing two FELINS - Lot 1
Large PENDANT representing two FELINS Two felines, seen in profile, are lying back to back with their legs bent. The heads are engraved with striations on the ears, teeth and front legs. Their mouths have been opened with a drill and then hollowed out. The front is closed by a wide curved tongue. Two attachment holes are drilled on the back. The back shows traces of sawing characteristic of the cutting technique for this type of object. Grey-green stone with brown oxidation. Guanacaste culture, Nicoya, Costa Rica, 200 - 600 AD H. 6,8 - L. 18,7 - Th. 1,5 cm Provenance: Private collection of M. B, London.
