HENRIOT à QUIMPER, octagonal earthenware plate enameled with a polychrome design after A. M. Fontaine depicting an allegory of France as a winged Victory overcoming the German eagle, wearing a Phrygian cap, with a saber in her right hand and a laurel wreath in her left. To her left, a French 75 mm cannon with a rooster on top. The border is decorated with branches of laurel and oak, interspersed with an Adrian helmet, a Phrygian cap, a Croix de Guerre and a coat of arms representing the flags of the Allies. Under the base: "Cercle du soldat 1917" signed and marked. Diam. 26.5 cm (missing glaze, wear) Provenance: collection of Mr. Henry Parent de Curzon
