[Plutarch] Plutarchi Cheronei Græcorum Romanorumque illustri - Lot 545
[Plutarch] Plutarchi Cheronei Græcorum Romanorumque illustrium vitæ (followed by) Plutarchi Cheronei Philosophi & historici .. Basel, Michel Isengrin, 1552 In-folio, 2 volumes bound in one, full saddle-skin binding embossed on beveled wooden boards. Scrolls and historiated plates on the boards, title transferred to the spine in metallo-gallic ink, monogram E Z S on the first board, closing lakes complete with their fittings (title page damaged with paper loss at the printer's address, wetness at the corner of the last 50 leaves). A very fine and rare Latin edition of Plutarch's works by the great Basel publisher Michel Isengrin. It is presented here in its magnificent original binding. This edition is found in very few public libraries. The copy would be magnificent were it not for the two defects mentioned. EXPERT : MICHEL SAPORTA
