Centaur skeletons are typical of the curiosity cabinets of the late 19th century. Like unicorn horns, these objects belong to "cryptozoology", a term later coined by Scottish biologist Ivan T. An example of a centaur is kept at the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, created by the famous entrepreneur and freak show director Phineas Taylor Barnum (1810-1891).
