The (re)export of a specimen of a species listed in the appendices of CITES and regulation no. 338/97 from the European Union to a third country is subject to obtaining an export permit or re-export certificate issued by the country of departure. For exports outside the EU, the buyer must apply for a CITES export permit from France, and then for a CITES import permit from the authorities in his or her own country. For exports outside France, all administrative formalities are the responsibility of the buyer. Due to the difficulties involved in exporting specimens outside the EU, we recommend that buyers from these countries refrain from bidding on these lots.
