FONTAINEBLEAU GOGOTTE - Lot 128
FONTAINEBLEAU GOGOTTE
Presented on a black lacquered wood base.
Total height: 19 cm
Fontainebleau gogottes are concretions of silica sand. They were formed during the ice ages of the Quaternary period. In the 17th century, these strange shapes were much appreciated and were used to decorate the ponds and fountains in the grounds of the Château de Versailles. Since the 1970s, they have been known as "gogottes".
