HEADACHE STONE - Lot 35

HEADACHE STONE Stone Plains Indian Indeterminate, U.S.A. Very old piece Dimensions : 11 cm A beautiful ovoid puzzle stone. The patina is particularly evocative of the great antiquity of this object, which may have come from many cultural areas of the United States, as many Native American tribes made and used this type of weapon. The central circular crucible, in which the stone is held by a sturdy hoop, probably made of rawhide, is quite deep, and the stone has no hole through which it can be inserted into a handle. Once again, this seems to confirm the great antiquity of this object. Only very ancient peoples made puzzles in this way. Condition: very good patina, good condition.
