FRAME Italy 17th-18th century (42.5 x 30 x 21 cm) Black and gold lacquered molded wood cassetta frame with unhooked corners, the pediment adorned with an "IHS" cartouche, flanked by a carved group on either side representing the Annunciation episode and two fire pots. The profile is punctuated by carved cherubs' heads, the border adorned with rocaille clasps and a console bust. The aplats are composed of blue reserves with gilded foliage scrolls. 42.5 x 30 x 21 cm (minor wear visible) Remarkable for its balanced architectural composition and the quality of its gilding.
