VERLAINE, *Les Amies*, Pablo de Herlagnèz, 1870, Segovia, sm - Lot 28
VERLAINE, *Les Amies*, Pablo de Herlagnèz, 1870, Segovia, small 8vo, 16 pp. One of 100 copies on laid paper containing the first six poems of this sapphic collection. Verlaine embarked on several daring—even very daring—publications that were sold “under the counter.” This edition is highly sought after due to the extreme rarity of the original, which was published two years earlier and ordered to be destroyed by the court.
