Pierre LABADIE (1913 - 1973) - Lot 193
Pierre LABADIE (1913 - 1973) The call to prayer (Timbuktu - Djenné?) Gouache and watercolor on paper signed lower right, AT. BIGOT lower right and annotation "2nd mention lower center". Ca. 1933 - 1938. Damage and missing parts. 107.5 x 77.5 cm. Note: Pierre LABADIE (1913 - 1973) studied with Paul Bigot, Eugène Beaudouin and Raymond Gravereaux at the Ecole des Beaux Arts from July 10, 1933 to June 1938. This poster project was probably the subject of a competition during his school years. The label remnants, which originally concealed the names of the student and the teacher, certainly corresponded to a desire to preserve the anonymity of the candidates. Paul BIGOT (1870 - 1942) is best known for building the Institute of Art and Archaeology on rue Michelet in Paris. He also specialized in the creation of commemorative monuments for the Great War.
